Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Kyrgyz Republic monitors high-profile case of violence

The preventive measure opted for the suspects was remand in custody.

Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Asel Chynbayeva is monitoring the course of proceedings on the case of violence against an underage citizen of the country. The General Prosecutor’s Office is taking the case proceedings under control, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The suspects are currently held in custody. The case is being heard by the Sverdlovsk District Court of the capital of the Republic. Chynbayeva highlighted the need to enhance the protection of children from violence.

The Commissioner for Children’s Rights recommended that government agencies raise awareness of citizens of Kyrgyzstan about the negative impacts of cruel treatment and violence against children.

Representatives of the crisis centres requested that President Sadyr Japarov respond to the above case. According to the President’s Office, one of the main functions of the state is to protect underage citizens of the country.

There are three defendants, two of them are police officers. The third defendant is under investigation. The girl, who is now 13 years old, was afraid to talk about what had happened to her because she was intimidated with an arrest, as earlier a certain seller from Dordoi had accused her of stealing.
