Tokayev and Metropolitan Alexander discuss religious policy issues

It was noted that the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District is conducting large-scale work to foster interethnic and interfaith dialogue.

On July 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan. The Kazakh leader highly evaluated the contribution of the Orthodox Church to strengthening solidarity and cohesion in the country and discussed the aspects of the state religious policy with the guest, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Kazakh leader emphasised that the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District is conducting large-scale work to foster interethnic and interfaith dialogue and strengthen moral values.

Tokayev emphasised that the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held in September this year, will focus on the role of religious leaders in the spiritual and social development of society in the post-pandemic period. He expressed belief that the participation of Patriarch Kirill in the upcoming event would allow reaching a new level of global inter-religious and inter-civilizational dialogue.

Expressing gratitude to the President, the Metropolitan expressed his support for the strategy of improvement and constructive reforms for the benefit of the Kazakh people.
