On June 22, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received Ombudsman Atyr Abdrakhmatova in Bishkek. They discussed the problems in protecting human rights. They paid particular attention to the effectiveness of the relevant government agencies, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Abdrakhmatova said many citizens complain about human rights violations, emphasising that citizens’ complaints have been considered for many years, but the problems remain unresolved. The official also criticized the authorized bodies for the failure to document kairylmans and provide state support in this area.
Japarov highlighted the need to increase the effectiveness of the ombudsman institution. The President emphasised that government agencies and employees should resolve the problems of citizens in a proper and timely manner.
It was noted that this year Regional Centre for Human Rights under the Ombudsman will open in Kyrgyzstan, and the Law On Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) will be adopted.
