On June 14, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Arzybek Kozhoshev met with the Kyrgyz athletes who performed at the 24th Summer Deaflympics in Brazil. Kozhoshev noted that it was the first time in the history of the country that the athletes with disabilities had achieved great success at the Deaflympics, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The national team consisted of 15 athletes, 6 coaches, 1 referee and 1 sports medicine physician. In total, the Kyrgyz athletes won 6 medals, including 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the top manager of one of the construction companies for supporting sports in the country.
He said the Kut construction company decided to give the medal winners of the Deaflympics a 30% discount on the purchase of their home.
As was reported, President Sadyr Japarov presented state awards, money certificates and memorable gifts for the outstanding results at the 24th Summer Deaflympics and the significant contribution to training athletes of the national Deaflympics team.
