President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated citizens on World Bicycle Day on June 3. He noted that on this day, big sports and cultural events are held throughout the country and a lot of people take part in them. It was reported by the news agency «Turkmenistan today».
Berdimuhamedov reminded the citizens that large sports and equestrian complexes, stadiums, sports schools, as well as the Olympic village were built in the country. Turkmenistan successfully hosted the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, International Rally «Amul-Khazar 2018», as well as the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships, he added.
The head of the state underlined that on the initiative of Ashgabat the UN declared June 3 World Bicycle Day. In addition, on the initiative of the country, the United Nations adopted the resolution to integrate cycling into public transportation.
This year, according to tradition, mass bike rides took place in Turkmenistan in honor of Bicycle Day. The marathon route in the capital usually runs from the foothills of the Kopetdag mountains along Chandybil Avenue to the Rukhyet Palace.
