Kyrgyzstan asks WHO to help children with cancer

The parties confirmed mutual readiness to promote fruitful cooperation.

On May 30, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Kyrgyzstan Nazira Artykova. The parties discussed key aspects of further fruitful cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Artykova informed about the activities of WHO and assistance amounted to about $55 million provided to the Kyrgyz side to strengthen primary health care with the support of the World Bank, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the German Development Bank.

Kemelova thanked the WHO Representative for providing significant support to Kyrgyzstan’s health care sector, as well as assistance in the fight against the pandemic.

She asked WHO to help children with serious illnesses, including oncological diseases.

She also requested assistance in building up the capacity of health care institutions and supply hospitals in the regions of the country with medical equipment.
