Kyrgyzstan welcomes Afghanistan’s involvement in international processes

The secretaries of the Security Council from 7 countries discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and its impact on neighbouring states.

On May 27, Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov took part in the Fourth Regional Security Dialogue in Dushanbe that focused on the current situation in Afghanistan and its potential impact on the region, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The participants highlighted the need to involve Afghanistan in on-going international processes and intensify multilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, illicit drug trafficking and arms trade.

Imankulov noted that Kyrgyzstan hopes for positive dynamics in achieving security in Afghanistan, including through the efforts of the current Afghan government.

The participants also emphasised the need to improve transport connectivity in the region as a key factor of economic security, as well develop the education system to boost Afghanistan’s socio-economic recovery.

Kyrgyzstan continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and delivers foods, medicines and other essential goods to this country.
