Admission to Russian-Tajik schools discussed in Dushanbe

The agreement governing the activities of these educational institutions is being prepared for ratification.

On May 12, Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan Rakhim Saidzoda met with Ambassador of the Russian Federation Igor Lyakin-Frolov in Dushanbe. The interlocutors focused on the activities of the Russian-Tajik schools in 5 cities of the Republic, the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan reported.

The emphasis was placed on the admission of children and the employment of teachers to the secondary schools in Dushanbe, Kulyab, Khujand, Bokhtar and Tursunzade. The Ministry has developed the legal act on amendments to the agreement governing the activities of schools, signed by the Governments of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

The officials noted that the document was being prepared for ratification. The special working group will be responsible for regulating the admission of schoolchildren. Saidzoda and Lyakin-Frolov noted that all necessary measures were being taken.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation has allocated about $150 million to build 5 Russian-language schools in Tajikistan. The schools will open in September this year.
