Japarov discusses medical education reform

Following the meeting, the documents on the transfer of the hospital buildings to KSMA and OSU were signed.

On April 13, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a meeting on the progress of medical education reform. The members of the Cabinet of Ministers and the rectors of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) and the Osh State University (OSU) participated in the meeting, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The rectors of the higher educational institutions made presentations. They noted that clinical centres will be set up at the universities. The Academic Hospital will open at KSMA. About $5.99 million will be spent on an unfinished building of the National Oncology and Haematology Centre, and about $3.6 million will be spent on equipment and reconstruction of the Republican National Diagnostic Centre.

The clinical centre at Osh State University will expand. About $22.65 million will be spent on modernisation of the Osh City Clinical Hospital.

Following the meeting, Japarov signed the decree on the transfer of the building of the Osh City Clinical Hospital to the Osh State University for educational uses. In accordance with the decree of the Government, the building of the National Oncology and Haematology Centre and the Republican Diagnostic Centre of the State Medical Academy will be transferred to KSMA for use.
