Torobaev instructs to consider applying visa-free regime to certain travellers

The Deputy Prime Minister considered developing a tourism development programme.

On April 7, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting with the tourism industry associations to discuss current issues of tourism development, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Torobaev instructed that the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy draft the Tourism Development Strategy, the Ministry of Economy and Trade consider developing a tourism development programme and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consider applying a visa-free regime to tourists who have Schengen and US visas and work towards mutual recognition of visa requirements of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan within one month.

Following the meeting, the participants adopted the decision to set up an interagency commission on tourism development, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the tourism sector, which would consist of representatives of businesses and government agencies.

In 2012, Kyrgyzstan adopted the law on visa-free regime for citizens of 45 countries.
