On March 8, together with his spouse Aygul Japarova, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov watched the final match of the 2022 Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The national team defeated 14:0 the Kuwait team and took first place in the World Championship. The Kyrgyz ice hockey players scored 64 goals and lost 2 goals in the match.
The Kyrgyzstan national team will henceforth perform in Division III of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
The Iran team ranked second, and the Singapore team ranked third.
In his congratulatory speech, Sadyr Japarov noted that the victory of the national team made all citizens of Kyrgyzstan happy and proud.
The Kyrgyz leader presented on his behalf cash prizes to all the members of the team, including coaches and doctors.
As was reported, this was the first-ever world championships in the Olympic sport hosted by Kyrgyzstan.
