Kazakhstan to lift restrictions as epidemic situation remains stable

The Minister of Health said the daily incidence rate had dropped from 16,500 cases in January to 1,500 cases in February.

On February 18, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a working meeting with Minister of Health Azhar Giniyat, who reported on the improving epidemic situation in the country and the resumption of normal life of citizens of Kazakhstan, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Minister of Health said the daily incidence rate had dropped from 16,500 cases in January to 1,500 cases in February. In general, the epidemic situation in all the regions remains stable. The number of hospital in-patients has significantly decreased. Hospital bed occupancy rates fell to 20%.

The Minister informed the President about the decision to lift some restrictions. For example, students will resume full-time studies, and employees of enterprises will return to their normal work schedule. Azhar Giniyat emphasised that the main aspect of ongoing measures was full revaccination.

Reporting to the President on the reforms in the healthcare sector, the Minister said the modernization of primary health care and medical services in rural areas was at the forefront. Approving the activities conducted by the Ministry, the leader of Kazakhstan instructed that the current dynamics should be maintained.
