Mayor of Dushanbe receives new Commander-in-Chief of Russian Military Base 201

Rustam Emomali and Yevgeny Kovylin discussed cooperation between the City Hall and Military Base 201.

On February 8, Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with new Commander-in-Chief of Gatchina Zhukov Order, twice Red Banner Military Base 201 of the Russian Federation Evgeny Kovylin in Dushanbe, the press office of the Mayor’s Office reported.

Rustam Emomali congratulated Evgeny Kovylin on his appointment. The interlocutors paid particular attention to the prospects of interaction between the local executive authority and Military Base 201. The emphasis was also placed on the prospects for improving cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Dushanbe Igor Lyakin-Frolov attended the meeting.

According to the Mayor’s Office, the interlocutors highly evaluated the level of bilateral cooperation over the past 30 years.

Military Base 201 was set up in 2004 on the basis of Gatchina twice Red Banner Motor Rifle Division 201 to protect independence and support the constitutional order in Tajikistan.
