On February 2, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave an interview to representatives of the leading media of the People’s Republic of China. Questions were asked by the press secretary of the Chinese diplomatic mission in Ashgabat Yu Xiaoshuang. One of the topics raised were the Winter Olympic Games, as reported by the news agency «Turkmenistan today».
As part of the interview, it was emphasized that Berdimuhamedov would visit Beijing, where he would take part in the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The President noted that he expects fair competitions and mutual respect between the participants of the sport event. The head of the state expressed confidence that the competitions would be held at the highest level. He said that he decided to take part in the ceremony due to understanding the significance of the event for the entire planet.
According to him, Ashgabat followed the preparation of China for these Olympic Games. Berdimuhamedov called the facilities built on the occasion of this event spectacular. Particular attention was paid to the introduction of innovative solutions in the relevant direction.
