Rahmon calls on Central Asian states and China to enhance fight against terrorism

The President of Tajikistan addressed the Central Asia-China Summit.

On January 25, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon participated in the Central-Asia-China Summit. He commented on the results of Dushanbe-Beijing cooperation and called on his counterparts to intensify the fight against terrorism, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.

Rahmon noted that over the past 30 years, Tajikistan and China had achieved significant progress in creating the legal framework, boosting trade and investment cooperation and implementing major infrastructure projects.

The leader of Tajikistan called on President of China Xi Jinping and the leaders of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to intensify joint counter-terrorism efforts.

Touching upon the difficult situation in Afghanistan, the President of Tajikistan highlighted the importance of enhancing the fight against extremism, separatism and illegal trade in psychotropic substances.

Following the Summit, the leaders of states adopted a joint statement and also tasked the foreign ministers to implement the proposals for building up interstate relations.
