Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to receive 70 items of military equipment from Russia

The Kant joint Russian military base is to enforce security of the airspace of the CSTO Member States.

On January 24, Commander of the Central Military District under the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Alexander Lapin informed that more than 70 items of military equipment and weapons would be delivered this year to the Russian military bases deployed in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the press office of the Central Military District reports.

As was reported, the military units from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan held joint military exercises on the Tajik-Afghan border last year due to increasing internal instability in Afghnaistan.

Earlier, the Central Military District reported that the Russian Su-25 attack aircrafts were deployed from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan to hold the CSTO Interaction-2021 military exercise near the border with Afghanistan.

The aircraft crews were tasked to search and destroy the objects of a mock enemy. The Su-25 also provided fire support to motor rifle and tank regiments when performing combat training missions in the desert mountains.

The Su-25 aircraft can be fed with conventional gasoline or diesel fuel instead of kerosene in emergency.
