Uzbekistan and Turkey to promote partnerships in education

Sardor Umurzakov and members of the Turkey delegation exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral cooperation in the education sector.

On January 24, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with members of the Turkey delegation on the promotion of Uzbekistan-Turkey cooperation in the education sector, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade reports.

The Turkey delegation consisted of President of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey E. Ozvar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Uzbekistan O. Bekar and officials of the Ministry of Trade of Turkey.

The participants discussed the current state and prospects for promoting partnerships in the education sector, particularly the opening of the Uzbek-Turkish University together with Turkish major universities, as well as the activities of the Tashkent branch of the University of Economics and Technology of Turkey and the faculty of the University of Health Sciences of Turkey at the Bukhara State Medical Institute.

The participants considered the possibility of opening the branches of Turkish major universities in the regions of Uzbekistan. These branches will provide training in such areas as medicine, agriculture, engineering and the humanities.

The interlocutors also discussed the issues related to advanced training of researchers and university lecturers and joint lectures, seminars and trainings between educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Turkey.
