Tokayev analyses causal factors for tragic events

The President instructed that no violations of civil rights be allowed while implementing investigation operations and other actions.

On January 15, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with the heads of the law enforcement agencies. The officials of the Prosecutor’s General Office, the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the President’s Administration and the Security Council attended the meeting, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

They reported in detail on the progress in the pre-trial investigation of the riots in the city and the attacks on law enforcement and government agencies and the results of special operations and other measures taken to ensure security and law and order in the country.

Commenting on the reports, the leader of Kazakhstan gave specific instructions to the officials, focusing on conducting a full investigation of all destructive actions, particularly in Almaty, and estimating the exact number of civilian casualties.  The President also instructed that the work on a new regulatory act on the coordination of law enforcement interventions in critical situations be launched.

The President tasked the Chairman of the Security Council to speed up the formation of special forces and submit the specific proposals on the reforms in the national security system.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed that no violations of the legal status of citizens be allowed while implementing investigation operations and other actions.
