On December 24, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with the rectors of a number of universities of India via videoconference. It focused on the aspects of bilateral cooperation in the education and healthcare sectors, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported.
The heads of the Amity University that opened a branch in Tashkent in 2019, Sharda Group that has a branch in Andijan and the Sambhram Group that opened a branch in Jizzak this summer represented the Indian side.
The talks focused on the possibilities of opening faculties of medicine and clinics at these branches of the Indian universities in Uzbekistan. The Indian specialists expressed readiness to train Uzbek students in such areas of medicine as surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, ophthalmology, radiology, dermatology and psychiatry, with subsequent job placement in health institutions of Uzbekistan.
The participants also discussed the possibilities of opening the enterprises that will produce in-demand medicines using Indian technologies in Uzbekistan.
