Uzbek weightlifters win four medals in single day

Tursunoy Zhabborova, Akbar Juraev and Ruslan Nurudinov won gold and silver medals for the Uzbekistan national team.

On December 16, a weightlifter Tursunoy Zhabborova (under 87 kg category) won two medals – gold and silver, the press office of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan reports.

Tursunoy Zhabborova completed a 113 kg snatch lift and took first place. She lifted 131 kg in the clean and jerk and lost the championship to the athlete from Mongolia Mönkhjantsangiin Ankhtsetseg. Zhabborova lifted a total of 244 kg in the tournament. Solfrid Koanda from Norway ranked third at the World Championships.

On the same day, the representatives of the men’s national team Akbar Juraev and Ruslan Nurudinov, who competed in the under 109 kg category, won the gold and silver medals, respectively. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics champion Akbar Juraev lifted 195 kg in the snatch and 238 kg in the clean and jerk (total – 433 kg) and won a gold medal and the absolute title at the World Championships.

The silver winner Ruslan Nurudinov completed a 185 kg snatch lift and 236 kg clean and jerk lift.

The athlete from Armenia Simon Martirosyan (188/228 kg) won a bronze medal.
