Tajikistan and UN expand cooperation in ensuring global peace

The topic was raised during a meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin with the UN high-level delegation.

On December 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin had an official meeting with the UN high-level delegation in Dushanbe. The parties discussed the Central Asia’s Joint Plan of Action to counter terrorism, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The delegation consisted of Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalya German and Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre and the Office of Counter-Terrorism Jehangir Khan.

The talks focused on key aspects of cooperation between Tajikistan and these agencies of the United Nations in ensuring global peace and stability.

The emphasis was placed on Dushanbe’s readiness to expand its participation in the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia - Joint Plan of Action to counter terrorism. Mukhriddin congratulated the UN representatives on the launch of Phase IV of the Plan of Action.

The programme will be launched in the capital of Tajikistan on December 8.
