Bishkek and Tehran discuss direct flights and tourism promotion

The Minister of Foreign Affairs invited Iranian companies to invest in Kyrgyzstan’s regional economy.

On October 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investment of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbayev received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kyrgyzstan Said Kharrazi. The interlocutors discussed key issues related to further strengthening bilateral contacts, as well as the current state of Kyrgyzstan-Iran relations, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The officials discussed the opening of the trading house of Iran in Bishkek and the launch of the new Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan rail corridor using the transit potential of the Bandar Abbas seaport.

They also discussed the promotion of tourist relations and an increase in the frequency and number of flights between the two countries, as well as the participation of the Iranian side in the hydropower projects in Kyrgyzstan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also invited Iranian companies to invest in priority sectors of the Kyrgyz economy, including in the development of tourism infrastructure in Issyk-Kul Region.
