Leader of Uzbekistan instructs to renovate hospital in Andijan Region

A regional medical centre where doctors will perform complex cardiac, neurological and ophthalmic surgeries will be established.

On September 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the clinic at the Andijan State Medical Institute that had exhausted its resources and required reconstruction. Mirziyoyev instructed that a regional medical centre, where doctors would perform complex cardiac, neurological, ophthalmic and urologic surgeries, be established at the hospital, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

“With the aim to honour the dignity of a person and protect his fundamental interests, we must first of all strengthen public health capacity and improve living conditions,” the leader said.

The emphasis was placed on the need to improve training methods and adopt advanced practices in international medicine. The President was informed about the ongoing activities to promote the health care system in Andijan Region. The officials in charge were instructed to conduct medical examination of the population, building on the experience of Shakhrikhan Region, and introduce new methods of treatment.

The clinic was built in 1975. Since then, only routine repairs have been done on the institution. More than 90,000 people visit the hospital every year. The hospital can accommodate more than 30,000 patients per year.
