Uzbekistan and Russia enhance cooperation in education

The issues related to the effective organisation of activities of the branch of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Tashkent were discussed.

On September 7, Minister of Preschool Education of Uzbekistan Agrippina Shin had a meeting with Deputy Director of the Department of International Partnership and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Efremov, Acting Rector of A. I. Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia Vasily Rabosh and Second Secretary of the RF Embassy in Uzbekistan Alexander Sazonov. The parties discussed key issues related to the effective organisation of activities of the Branch of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

Expressing hope that the branch of the Russian university would be the centre of training highly qualified teachers in Central Asia, the Russian side noted that the negotiations on the opening of the branches were ongoing with the relevant departments of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

The Russian side expressed readiness to support the Ministry of Preschool Education of Uzbekistan in improving the professional skills of the teaching staff of the preschool educational centre with a rehabilitation centre in Kibray district of Tashkent, being built with financial assistance of Lukoil Overseas. It was noted that experts from St. Petersburg would be engaged to improve the professional skills of the teaching staff of the new preschool educational institution at the Imkon preschool educational institution with the rehabilitation centre in Nukus.

The interlocutors agreed to continue joint activities to improve the educational process at the Branch of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Tashkent.
