Tajikistan and Russia step up cooperation in space industry

Roskosmos will use optical observation equipment at the observatories in the Central Asian republic.

On August 12, an official meeting between Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin and President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Farhod Rakhimi took place at the Roscosmos State Corporation building in Moscow. The parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the space industry, the press office of Roscosmos reported.

Rogozin and Rakhimi highlighted the need to create a solid regulatory framework to promote bilateral partnerships in this field.

The interlocutors paid special attention to promising areas of cooperation. The emphasis was placed on the capacities of the Russian Orbital Group in remote sensing to observe the earth surface, which could enable Tajikistan to develop science and economy.

The Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation expressed his interest in using the optical equipment of a number of observatories in the Central Asian republic, namely the Gissar Astronomical Observatory and the Sangloh Astronomical Observatory at the National Academy of Sciences.

The parties also specified the areas of interaction within the CIS Interstate Space Council.
