Authorities of Kyrgyzstan promote tourism amidst pandemic

According to international experts, the tourism sector has been most affected by the pandemic.

On July 12, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyldyz Bakashova chaired a meeting on the developments in the tourism sector during the coronavirus pandemic, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The coronavirus pandemic has led to severe global economic disruption, while, according to international experts, the tourism sector has been most affected.

With the aim to attract as many tourists as possible to the country, the Ministry of Health approved a special algorithm and requirements for the sanitation norms and standards at summer tourist destinations.

The inspections in Issyk-Kul region were conducted, the press office reported.  The top managers of 9 tourism and recreation organisations in the region were fined for non-compliance with sanitation norms and standards, and other violations were revealed.

After completion of the inspections, the Ministry of Health was instructed to ensure access of foreign and local tourists to PCR tests or vaccines and take measures to recognise vaccination (passports) and e-certificates.
