President of Turkmenistan blesses new passenger ship

The ship is intended for tourists and travelers in the Avaza tourist zone.

On 7 July, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as part of a working trip to the Balkan province, took part in a blessing ceremony for the new passenger ship «Rahat», which will sail in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

The high-speed vessel was built in Tatarstan within the framework of bilateral agreements between Kazan and Ashgabat. The ship is 33 meters long and is able to sail about 161 kilometers offshore. It is intended for tourists and travelers in the Avaza tourist zone.

The captain of the ship reported to the president about the readiness of «Rahat» for the maiden voyage and asked the head of the state to bless the ship. After that, Berdimuhamedov and his associates, went on a boat trip.

After the return of the vessel to the shore and the departure of the leader of the country, a solemn ceremony of receiving the vessel started. The event included song and musical numbers. A ritual of meeting the passenger ship was held as well. The «alaja» amulet was tied, and the board was sprinkled with white flour as a sign of a safe sail.
