Berdimuhamedov directs to strengthen fight against COVID-19

The President of Turkmenistan noted the importance of buying vaccines, organizing quarantine, and strengthening supervision at border crossings.

On June 18, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the extraordinary commission to combat the spread of diseases. The head of the state instructed the meeting participants to strengthen the fight against the coronavirus infection, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

Berdimuhamedov said that from the first days of the pandemic the government took a very responsible and comprehensive approach, which made it possible to exclude the spread of the virus in the country. At the same time, he stressed that the local authorities should not stop there.

Within the presentation of the report on the work carried out Minister of Health and Medical Industry Nurmuhammet Amannepesov has also stated the need to strengthen anti COVID-19 measures.

The President directed to continue the vaccination of citizens and the organization of a mandatory 21-day quarantine for citizens arriving from abroad. He also pointed out the importance of creating an insurance reserve of necessary medicines and strengthening supervision at border crossings. The leader of the country instructed officials to expand explanatory works, seminars for medical workers and report him on the results of activities aimed at prevention of COVID-19.

Berdimuhamedov gave instructions to representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy to allocate additional funds for the purchase of the necessary vaccines against the coronavirus.

It must be added that a 3-ring system of protection against the coronavirus operates in Turkmenistan. As of June 18, no cases of the infection have been registered in the country.
