Tokayev calls on citizens of Kazakhstan to get vaccinated

The President instructed that the vaccination campaign in the regions be accelerated.

On June 16, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Minister of Health Alexei Tsoi, who reported on the current sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country and the vaccination rate, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The Minister noted that the current situation was stable, and the number of newly coronavirus cases had declined twice as much, as compared to the past months. The mortality rate reported for COVID-19 has declined 1.6 times.

Reporting on the pace of the vaccination campaign, Tsoi said the number of vaccinated citizens increased since the Government had presented the official data. To date, 2.587 million citizens have received the first dose, and 1.480 million citizens have received both vaccine doses. Nearly 100,000 people are vaccinated in a day, and there is sufficient supply of vaccines in-country.

Commenting on the report, Tokayev said vaccination was at the forefront of efforts to strengthen infection control and instructed that the vaccination campaign in the regions be accelerated. Herd immunity was the surest way to defeat the coronavirus, the President emphasised, calling on all compatriots to receive all the vaccines available in Kazakhstan as soon as possible.

The leader of Kazakhstan also instructed that the legislative framework supporting health workers be elaborated. The President said legal and social security of representatives of this noble profession must be extended through consolidating their status and offering incentives.
